COFISA
The Finnish and South African governments are partnering to enhance the South Africa’s innovation system through the Cooperation Framework on Innovation Systems between Finland and South (COFISA). The Technical Assistance to COFISA project is provided by a consortium of Finnish Consulting Group Ltd and Advansis Ltd.
The COFISA programme has been developed jointly by the Governments of SA, through the Department of Science and Technology, and Finland, through the Embassy of Finland in Pretoria. It is part of the Finnish development cooperation framework and is funded jointly by the two governments.
The overall objective of the COFISA Programme is to enhanced the effectiveness of the South African National System of Innovation contributing to economic growth and poverty alleviation, in particular through:
- Achieving mastery of technological change in the South African economy and society (Innovation)
- Increasing investment in South Africa's science base (Human Capital and Transformation)
- Creating an effective government science and technology system (Alignment and Delivery)
